The Move

My life has been one of reduction the past year or so. It's been an interesting exercise, but the final push is on. Can I squeeze my life into 2 pieces of luggage and one personal item? The answer is turning out to be yes.

It's time to move again.

When I posted this, I was already in a reduced space. I once had the master bedroom for my studio. I was in a band at that time and had a lot more than just art-related things. When that ended, I compacted the art portion of the studio and moved it into the office, maybe 1/3 the size. It's what's in the photo. That was fine, kinda cozy actually.

Then the big move came and I was reduced to my studio-on-the-go. This is me a week and a half ago at some ungodly hour:

A few things of note:
1.) I am so glad to leave that stool behind. It was a deal at a garage sale, but you get what you pay for.
2.) I am using a handheld palette like some real artist. First time I've had to do that since...ever. Actually, on the rare occasion that I paint outdoors I hold my palette. Otherwise, this is new to me.
3.) See those bins to the side there? The next move compacts things even further: I won't have most of them.
4.) I'm actually painting. Every once in awhile you see a photo of an artist posing as if they are applying paint to a piece. Then you look and notice the painting is framed on the easel and, well, already done. Lame. I still have the black tape around the edges that I wipe my brush on and then replace when the piece is done.

I might miss a week or so while I get moved in again, but for now it's goodbye San Jose, goodbye California, goodbye USA....
